MALIK SCOTT BLASTS ANTONIO TARVER: "I PROMISE YOU, I WILL PUT HIS OLD ASS IN A ROCKING CHAIR"
By Percy Crawford | February 16, 2015
PC: You and Antonio Tarver have social media buzzing right now. Tell us about it, man!
MS: Listen, this is the whole thing now, there is not a heavyweight on planet earth that holds some name of any type of relevancy gonna score a mediocre win and look at the camera and say, "Who's next?" He did that after he fought Johnathon Banks. We all know Johnathon Banks as "Coach" Banks now. He didn't even fight the real Johnathon Banks. So I say that to say this; after I fought Leapai and me having the momentum that I had after that fight of going to Australia and upsetting Leapai in his living room, and hearing Tarver saying, "Who's next?" I'm like, shyt, I'm next. By me saying I'm next and Tarver being such an arrogant milk dud head muhfuka, he gon say, "Oh, I don't have time to fight Malik Scott." Well, who do you have time for? I see David Haye in Vegas and I say, "David, what's up with you and Tarver? You gonna take that fight because if you not, I'm going after his ass." David said, "Man, I ain't thinking about Tarver. Go ahead and beat the shyt out of him, bruh." I said, "When he say your name, throw him right at me." David hasn't done that yet and I ain't got time to sit around. I got two kids and I'm trying to make history. So I'm like, what the fukk, you gonna fight or not?
Tarver is one of them guys, he's willing to sit around and wait for Klitschko or David Haye because he's looking for the big money and the big pay. I am too because I got a family to feed, but my whole shyt is this, I still got history that I'm trying to make. Antonio Tarver is not easy prey; I just believe I got the ability to make him look like easy prey if he fights me. That's my whole thing, man. If anybody, any heavyweight in the world tries to downplay my "Road to Redemption" since I lost to Deontay, I'm coming at you hard. There is no filter, there is no, "Nah, that's too personal." fukk them. Whoever it is. All of that, "Malik Scott, he's okay; he took a dive against Wilder," or whatever allegation you want to come up with, if I hear that shyt, I'm approaching you. I went to Vegas to approach him when I went to go support Deontay and his lawyer told me that Tarver didn't make the flight. Like this internet shyt, I do it and it's entertainment, but I'm not one of these dudes that talk shyt about a guy on the internet and then go hop in this picture with them. That's not me. I want to approach you with the discussion I had with you. He sitting around waiting and we ain't got time to waste on this fight. Tarver is not somebody I want to pop bottles with. I want to fight him. If he decides to fight, I promise you, I will put his old ass in a rocking chair.
PC: Do you feel like he's talking as if he is in a position to dictate in the heavyweight picture?
MS: Yeah! That's what I'm saying. He's not Klitschko. All of this yap yap and the bottom line is, you gotta lace them gloves up and deal with that if you fight Malik Scott. This is not the same Tarver that fought Roy Jones. This is not the Tarver that fought Clinton Woods. He is over, so he's making a point like he control the division when he hasn't done shyt. He say he don't have time to fight me, but he got time to fight a Mike Sheppard and Johnathon Banks and a Nagy Aguilera when them guys don't have the resume that I have, and I'm not even gonna talk about the skill set that I have. So Tarver is basically trying to run and get a payday so he can support his drug addition. That's what this whole shyt is about. He's talking like he's Wladimir or even Vitali. Vitali is retired and has been sitting out, but even he could come back and say, "I want to do this and that." You know why? Because he was the heavyweight champion before in the heavyweight division. Shannon Briggs, shout out to him, he's doing his thing, but he was the heavyweight champion of the world. So he can go hard in his campaign. Tarver not gonna come up from no light heavyweight division and beat another light heavyweight in Johnathon Banks and beat an old man like Mike Sheppard and another journeyman Nagy Aguilera and ignore me like I'm not real. That's not gonna happen. He hasn't fought one fighter in the heavyweight division with my skill set or with my resume. The Deontay Wilder fight happened, yes, the Derek Chisora fight happened, yes, but now lets talk about what I did to Glazkov and what Glazkov done to other people. Now Glazkov getting ready to fight in an IBF eliminator fight. Let's talk about what I did to Alex Leapai, who had just beat the undefeated Russian Denis Boytsov and how he was knocking out any American that they brought over there and how I just beat the shyt out of him so bad, his kids will never forget my face.
But these are the intangible things that people like to ignore when they don't want to fight you. The modern day coward constantly argues about money or his management or promoter. Listen, I will take half of what whoever Tarver is getting ready to fight; I will take half they purse. This is not no money chase thing with me. Yeah, I gotta provide for my family, but I'm chasing history and I believe my determination and my skill set will get me there. I'm not on this shyt saying I need such and such amount of money. If I look into the cameras and say, "Who's next," that mean whoever call my promoter or manager and addresses that statement, that's who is next. Tarver did that. He screamed into the camera "who's next" on ESPN and I said I'm next and now he's talking this cherrypicking and politicking and I'm not with that. Say he wanted to say that after the Chisora fight or the Deontay thing because I had just lost, but yo, that shyt right there is old news. I done went and beat the shyt out of Alex Leapai, who was Klitschko's last opponent. I went over there and exposed him and dogged him in front of his kids, wife, and everything. I beat him so bad that you can't even see the fight online. They won't even let the fight get put online. So Tarver...you have to realize Tarver is an intelligent man. He knows my skill set and the road of redemption that I'm on. He knows I still have a lot to prove. Think about the science of this shyt. He was saying the same shyt about young Chad Dawson that was coming up. "He's not ready, he didn't pay his dues," and what happened? Chad Dawson beat the shyt out of him twice. He was saying the same shyt about an "old" Bernard Hopkins and what happened? Hopkins beat the dog shyt out of him. Yeah, he beat Roy Jones and Clinton Woods and all of that type of shyt, and he has his whole legendary shyt that comes with him, but that's in the past. We are in 2015 and this is the heavyweight division. If you not the champ, you gotta pay your dues and stripes like we all do.
PC: I feel you.
MS: Listen to me, man, Wladimir has had twenty something title defenses and he still don't be trying to dictate, and he can if he want. If you are in a position to fight Wladimir, he's gonna fight you. All of this, "It's gotta be a bunch of money or I want to cherrypick even though I said I would fight anybody in the world," all that old cool shyt, and then he even tried to take it to like a street thing. Don't do that bro because then you pissing me the fukk off. You don't want me to go on the other side. I don't want to do that. If you wanna keep this shyt boxing, have Al Haymon send me a contract and I'll beat the shyt out of you on Showtime or ESPN2 and give you a kiss on the cheek and then you're out of my life and I'm out of yours. You don't want this shyt to escalate because it's already on and I don't give a fukk.
PC: When you come at the head of a cat like Tarver, you had to expect the Wilder fight to come back at you. You seemed to be prepared to handle the talks of you taking a dive or showing up for a payday.
MS: This is the whole thing, my fight with Wilder, you know what that is called? It's called a fall in life. That didn't determine my life; it determined a night. Now it would've determined my life if I would've stayed on the couch and felt sorry for myself and said, "Ah, fukk it. I'm done with this." I didn't do that. I kept smiling and I kept positive people around me and the first call I got to fight was Alex Leapai and I signed the contract faster than Superman changes clothes. Okay now, if anybody is not understanding the way I'm moving on this "Road to Redemption" and wanna talk shyt, now what we wanna do is talk about your falls in life and how you came back. People may not know about his falls in life, but I'm a student of the game and I know his falls in life. I know he was a former crackhead, I know he's an alcoholic, I know he has a gambling problem, I know all of that shyt, and he has beat those odds and came back strong. Just like he beat those odds, that's the same thing I'm doing from the Deontay fight and from the Derek Chisora fight. You gotta realize, man, I come from a home where my mother got high and my father moved around the streets. I'm from North Philly, so I'm not talking down on people because they do drugs and I don't or whatever. I'm a cigar smoker and a cigar seller actually, but where I'm from, people that do drugs don't walk around with their chest out and arrogant. They walk around humbled because they know they redeemed themselves from a bad life. Now if they act arrogant and act like they don't know nothing about the road to redemption, then you got guys like me saying, "Hold up, bytch, you better shut the fukk up. Don't you know you're a former crackhead? Don't act like you new." I come from that. Sometimes these unhumbling cats, you gotta humble them. There is no filter. Once you come at me publicly, I don't... bruh, I got kids; I'm a father and that's not gonna happen. I'm gonna push back and I'm gonna push back hard.
PC: If this fight can pop off, how soon would you like it to happen?
MS: That's up to the powers that be; we all know that. Al Haymon...I have been doing some things with Al Haymon, and my promoter, Dan Goosen, passed away, but Tom Brown, my matchmaker, and Al Haymon been trying to make things happen, especially this fight right here, but Tarver just sitting around waiting on Klitschko like Klitschko just gonna give him an opportunity. Man, you ain't did shyt in this division to get an opportunity yet. He piggybacking. Everybody asking why am I calling him a piggybacker. This motherfukker first was screaming out David Haye, right? Because he know David Haye is a big draw in the UK and he know David Haye is always in line to fight Klitschko. So he figure if I can't get Klitschko, I'll just go after David Haye. He sees that David Haye is giving him ass to kiss, then what does he do, he reads on the internet that Wladimir might fight Shannon Briggs. So then what does he do? He says, "I want to fight Shannon Briggs." Since Shannon Briggs not paying you no mind, come back and kick it over here and fight Wladimir Klitschko's last opponent before Pulev, which is Leapai, and then you gotta see who beat him last, which is Malik Scott. When it comes to me, it's like, no, no, no, no, no. I ain't got time for that cherrypicking shyt. I wanna fight this dude. I'm not saying he's easy prey. We all know Tarver can fight and we know his history, but I'm just willing to test my skills up against anybody. I believe I'm going to go undefeated on this road to redemption.
