They used to have wiegh ins on fight night, I beleive right before u entered the ring but a lot of people were killing themselves to make weight and coming in very dehydrated. The wiegh ins a day before the fight eliminated that but like u said some fighters can hydrate up to 20 pounds and others not so much... some fighters use this to a advantage but every fighter has caught up to this and use it to there advantage too, most fighters hydrate a lot equally to the other foe.

I'm new to the sport and was wondering about this too. Another question I have is about the moving up and moving down. I saw people on here saying if Canelo moved up he wouldn't be able to move back down again? Anyone care to explain? I've pretty much got that your speed, strength, endurance etc is affected by your weight but how could you get to the point where you can't go back down a few pounds again?

canelo is not a good example of moving up and going down..canelo is a middleweight and has been since the floyd fight..canelo moving up would be to 168 which hes not doing..there is no good physical reason why he wont fight at the full MW limit..it would actually help him out

Look at The GOAT Roy Jones Jr once he went up from Light Heavyweight to Heavyweight he was never the same again when trying to go back down. Basically when you do it in a short period a time and up in age drastic weight loss affects your immune system. Not good for the body.
