Classic movie but it's not a straight up gangster/mob movie like some of the others so keep that in mind. More of a drama between friends, in a mob setting. De Niro is amazing in it, so is Harvey Keitel.

Yeah that was my only thing with it, I thought it was going to be a straight up gangster mob film but it’s more of a drama

The acting was great and I enjoyed seeing old New York of the 70’s

Decent movie overall

It's more of just the everyday life of these low level street guys trying to earn, running errands and hanging out at their bar. Nothing complicated but it works.

I didn’t care for it much the first time I saw it.

I remember reading about it and someone said it’s better to watch as a series of vignettes.

I had that in mind when I rewatched it years later and liked it more.

It's like She's Gotta Have It. Very rough around the edges but you can tell the people involved had potential going forward.

I like how Charlie is trying to learn from his uncle. Just a guy trying to come up but not knowing all the ins and outs. Best scene between them is when they are talking about Johnny Boys cousin, the one Charlie is banging. His uncle says yeah "the one who's sick in the head", Charlie goes "no, she has epilepsy, " and his uncle says, "that's what I said, she's sick in the head."

These people got no empathy and no time for excuses. That's how they live.

So many little things in this movie to catch if you pay attention. There's really no plot and you can't go into it expecting goodfellas however many of the camera techniques in this movie were used in his later classics. It's funny af too.
