Well that may be a tough one, so please be advised to spoiler stuff which can be NSFW (nudity, bloody stuff etc.)

Mehndi design (mostly done in North Africa, India and East Asia), it's a plant that produce a dye which is used to tattoo on hands and feet most of the time. It's temporary.

Yakuza Tattoos :wow:
For the Japanese who are really about that life. Mostly an honor thing from what I know.

Ta Moko

It's a Maori stuff which was a symbol of rank and adulthood as it was also a part of imitation rites for boys and girls. Men were "tattooed" on the face and the body while women were on the chin, lips and neck. It was (is) also a beauty factor because it was also a way to be seen as better-looking.

West African Scarifications

In Benin, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and countries around the area, it's a fading initiation rite and identity marker that meant a member was fully part of a tribe. It was also a way to cure sickness or scare spirits according to regional beliefs.
