MGM Grand, Las Vegas - The final press conference for the Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley HBO Pay-Per-View rematch, taking place this Saturday night at the MGM, was moving along at a friendly pace.

But, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum closed the press conference with a huge verbal bang.

Arum has been upset with the MGM's promotion of Saturday's rematch. During the week, Arum voiced his anger to several reporters - regarding the venue's heavy display of promotional items related to the upcoming Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Marcos Maidana Showtime Pay-Per-View on May 3rd.

During the end of the press conference, with a stunned Richard Sturm [President of MGM Grand Entertainment] sitting right beside the podium, Arum unleashed his fury.

"I'm not going to say it....the hell with it - I know the Venetian would never make a mistake like this, they knew what fight was scheduled in three or four days and they wouldn't have a 12-1 fight all over the building that's going to take place in three weeks from next Saturday. That's why one company makes a billion dollars a quarter and the other hustles to pay it's debt [referring to the MGM]. There it is, say it like it is," Arum said to a stunned crowd.

A moment earlier, Arum was talking to Bradley near the podium and said - "Why don't you ask the guy who's picture is all over the building on when he's going to fight somebody real." - taking direct a jab at Mayweather. Bradley laughed a replied - "I'll let you ask him that."

Speaking to BoxingScene earlier in the day, Arum stated - "How many more 10-1 fights can the MGM sell to people? [Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard] Schaefer can say whatever he wants about the fights, but all you have to do is go and look at the odds at the Race & Sportsbook to see it's not a competitive fight."

:mjlol: this bitter old fagot is something else

On Floyd Mayweather"Why don't you ask the guy whose picture is up all over the building when he's going to fight somebody real?"

On the MGM Grand showcasing Mayweather-Maidana during Pacquiao-Bradley II weekend"I know that - hell with it. The Venetian wouldn't make a mistake like this."

"They wouldn't have a guy with a 12-to-1 favorite fight all over the building."

On Venetian Macau vs MGM Grand (I think?)
"One company makes a billion a quarter, and the other hustles to pay its debt. There it is. Say it like it is. There it is."

On Saturday's card compared to the Mayweather-Maidana card"All fights are even money or 2-to-1. Not 15-to-1 with a big guy who oughta be locked up for the way he tweets."

"Nobody on the card had to pay anybody off to get on the card, unlike some others on other networks."

And the apology..."If whatever I said was incendiary, I'm an old guy, and I apologize."

I can't believe he compared (I am assuming) either Haymon or Schaeffer to Frakie Carbo who in addition to being a boxing promoter was also a member of the Lucchesse crime family. :russ:
Does Bob have an heir apparent groomed to take over Top Rank when he croaks? Because you never see anyone but Bob out in front during stuff like this.

He'll re-up if he's still winning. He's afraid to leave Arum. Only way he leaves Uncle Bob is if Uncle Bob leaves him.

If Pac is smart, he should leave top rank after that contract is up, promote himself with a little golden boy collaboration, and cash out for a final bout or two (if the first one is good) with Floyd. (The first fight will do crazy numbers, i mean crazy money)

Leave Bob Arum on the outside looking in like :sadbron:

I mean the shyt is obvious, Mayweather is the highest paid athlete in the world, Manny (who is arguably the second biggest name in boxing) who works with Bob Arum is not. Logic will tell what name doesn't belong in the last sentence.

There was an article on here right before Pac re-signed with Arum. He had just lost the first fight to Bradley and Arum "allegedly," told him before that fight, that if he didn't re-sign by then he would be a loser again. Again, allegedly he rigged the Bradley fight for Pac to lose to "show him his power." It was a couple of years ago but it was on a reputable boxing news site. I'm paraphrasing the shyt out of the article, but that's still the gist of what I remember. Arum basically threatened his career, and right after he lost that fight he signed another 3 year deal with Arum. Hell, people were saying he needed to be done with Arum then.
