Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum says former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-1-1, 32KOs) is "wasting a lot of time" by rejecting potential fight offers and refusing to engage in meaningful fight discussions.

Chavez believes he is a free agent and his contract with Top Rank expired at the end of the September. Arum disagrees with his position, stating that Julio owes his company one more fight and has a year's worth of contract time to fulfill that obligation.

"It disappointed a lot of people when he refused to train [in a proper way] for his fight with Sergio Martinez. That night, with the exception of the last round, he was beaten in each of the previous eleven. Then he fought with [Brian] Vera and a lot of people thought he lost, so I had to [make a rematch]. His career is [not thriving] because he has been distracted by a lot of people and he doesn't concentrate on training, "Arum told Erika Montoya.

"[Chavez] has the boxing ability to perform at the highest level, but has no desire to make the sacrifice it takes to perform at the top of the sport. He proved [he can do it] against fighters like Andy Lee, who is still able to fight well. But he doesn't take things seriously in the gym and that is reflected in the ring. It's a shame, because not everyone has the abilities that he has. He still has a fight [obligation] to end the contract."

"We have offered several big fights and he still refuses. He turned down Gennady Golovkin, then Carl Froch and now we proposed Gilberto Ramirez. He would make a good amount of money, Ramirez wants to fight him, but he still refuses. We believe it is because some people, who are allied with his manager Billy Keane, are advising him not to accept anything."

TR and Chavez Camp are saying 2 different things. They need to go to court and figure this out, because one of them is holding up JCC's career up

He wants JCC to sign an extension as part of the deal. That fakkit ass con wanna exploit any boxers he can put his hands on or straight up kill your career with lies and manipulation. Has Chavez officially sued Arum yet? because if he is truly a free agent I would think he'd want to just get Bob in court and expose his bullshyt ASAP so Jr. can get on with his career.

To be honest, and I LOVE RiGOAT....but Brandon Rios and Timothy Bradley have been involved in more exciting fights than Rigondeaux, if we being honest:yeshrug:

Arum only asked for a 1 fight extension for the GGG fight on ppv.. Jr would've been paid handsomely. . But we know the truth is that bum wanted no parts of GGG.
