I used to think it was hokey but it’s actually a pretty good premise...

Carlito’s Way meets Superfly without being too over the top in its influences. If you can get past the God awful soundtrack it’s a pretty good gangsta movie

Lol it was laughably bad when it was BET movie of the week in the mid 2000's, and I watched it a few times.

It combined every ham fisted cliche of "urban"/drug movies, along with some of the actors from those other, better movies, and ends up a tired rehash of movies like "Sugar Hill", "Carlitos Way", "New Jack City".

I loved this movie as a teen, i even found the dvd for $5 and copped.

I havent revisted in a while, but from what i remember there were a lot of good ideas, just poorly executed.
