BLACKNESS IN GEEK CULTURE: THIS EXHIBIT BRINGS ART, ANIMÉ, MUSIC TOGETHER

If you remember the satisfying game ‘Hair Nah’, where you get to slap the lily-white off of wypipo trying to touch your Black hair then hold onto your game controllers because the creator Momo Pixel is at it again with the Black Geek Gurl magic! Pixel is debuting her fourth pixel art exhibition ‘Momoland’ that will be held on September 6th at Ground Kontrol in Portland Oregan. The graphic designer has a multidisciplinary feast in store for the lucky geeks that get to attend because “Momoland is an interactive pixel-art exhibition that merges art, music, anime and technology together. It promotes imagination, creativity, collaboration, gaming, and blackness within the Geek culture community.”

The exhibition will include a pixel art show that spans from anime of the 80s to more modern takes on the art form. There will also be an 80s theme soundtrack for ‘Momoland’, which will be released on September 1st and performed live by Pixel because the girl makes music too! Pixel has performed at Soul’d Out Music Festival opening up for Moonchild, Upstream Festival and many others so ‘Momoland’ attendees are in for a show. When you’re not jamming to Pixel, the exhibition will keep you busy with virtual reality set-ups, a gaming arcade that will include ‘Hair Nah’ as well as hand-made Pixel Wear by the designer herself.
