absolutely nothing positive, inspiring or motivational. same songs about moving dope, materialism, degradation of women, booty shakin, and being bout dat life :snoop:. segments like Paternity Test Tuesdays and here in Atlants there's a segment on 107.9 where they actually encourage ppl to call in and shout out their side-pieces:why:. black radio is straight up embarrassing to listen to if your eyes and mind is really open to whats going on

It has been mentioned in this thread before, but it got overlooked. Black radio is not only hip-hop. There are stations that only play r&b, neo-soul, retro hip-hop, gospel, oldies, etc. You just got to find them. There are several hosts that spread an overall positive message (even if you don't like them) like Steve Harvey, Tom Joyner, Michael Baisden (when he was on), Russ Parr. Very rarely will I listen to today's hip-hop. If I can't find nothing good on the radio, I just turn on my ipod.

yes I agree about the enegy/vibe/spirit of most rap beats in itself. its almost like their demonic. and Pharrell is my boy and all but I lost some respect for him jumping on the Move That Dope song when at the same time he made Happy. I made a thread on that too. to me it was like he made Move That Dope for us blacks and the uplifting, feel good Happy for everyone else

I call em Armageddon Beats :demonic:soundtrack to a war

Black entertainment is sickening. Absolutely no positive depictions of blacks on the radio, the television, or the big screen. We are thugs, gangsters, c00ning comedians (I see you, kevin hart :sas1:), or sidekicks for the white hero. But you know what? A lot of black people are listening to these radio stations. That's the problem.

I'd have to agree here.

yep......but its been like this for awhile..........

in the mid/late 90s, some of the early 2000s they at least had a little bit of balance...even if it was 75% fukkery, 25% a little consciousness/positivity ......................now its 98% fukkery....no even a hint of positivity for kids to listen to ...

:snoop: scust:

that means we don't let our kids listen to that shyt. i will say that if you all are trying to watch SOME semblance of positive black people on the television, you should turn to TvOne. watching it right now. they're interviewing some brother about the ebola outbreak in africa. i hope this channel lasts, because it's about the only channel on cable that isn't broadcasting fukkery.

good point here. Steve Harvey gets a lot of hate and I admit there's something I personally don't like about him but atleast when I tune in he's playing positive music and classics from REAL artists like Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Isley Brothers, etc

Why does their need to be positive and motivating things with our entertainment? We have plenty of positivity and motivating things with parents, family, churches, teachers, etc.

Music is entertainment an escape.

For me the issue isn't that there's that type of music on the radio. The issue is it's the only type of music on the radio. There's no balance in hip hop. Of course there's the gangsta hood shyt. But why is it so little "positive" rap songs.

Matter fact I can't think of a single rap album released in the last decade I'd be comfortable my children listening too.

I've been actively trying to find positive hip hop music of high quality, but it's really difficult.

There has never been balance.

Rappers shouldn't make rap with idea that kids it might not be suitable for kids.

oh well
