So you recommend it? I'm considering ordering it (I'm in France), I just read Between the world and me and didn't even know Coates did this too. Have you been reading the following issues as well?
There's a way for Coates to get his point across without necessarily going that route.
It's a big reason why I hope that we see T'Challa not just standing against the fukkery we've seen in the preview (the abuse, rapes, and trafficking of the women), but he also shuts that down and harshly punishes those responsible for it. Assuming its happening in Wakanda.
Because outside of something like that happening, whether it be from T'Challa or another male character of importance, the males in the BP-verse aren't getting much of a good look. Already T'Challa is having trouble holding his country together. Now, the males in Wakanda (not all of them of course) are being shown taking advantage of the situation and engage in some devious stuff.
Obviously Wakanda isn't a utopia, but man, shyt is crazy.
Yeah I just read this shyt, and it already had a nikka taking a double look at Coates, like really nikka, nikkas getting shytted on in a comic written by a nikka
I'm all for black excellence but if this shyt continues I'm throwing BP and Coates to the bushes
I don't know how you gave the 1st book a great review I saw the writing on the wall after the first chapter with the way they treated nikkas like either cowards scared to defend their blood or predators preying on the weak and women. I gave that nikka Coates the after that 1st issue.

I BELIEVE YOU, I STOPPED AT ISSUE 2 AND GAVE UP, WILL PROBABLY CATCH UP ONCE THE RUN IS OVER.lol a lot has happened since issue #1. A whole lot.
At this point, I'm like about this season. If there are good bits (which there has) it's all good, but I'm looking forward more for season 2, with the hope that the writing improves (it kinda has), and that the portrayals improve as well.
I say give the first few issues a try and see for yourself. The current run has been a financial success and a lot of people do like it. Dare I say that those that don't like it are actually in the minority.
The series has gone downhill since I wrote that review. That review was only for issue 1, which in and of itself was a great issue. However Coates complete disdain for what made T'Challa a great character (his Kingliness, his nobility, his confidence) has completely stripped the comic of any sense of enjoyment.
Truth be told at this point I'm simply reading along to finish the narrative and be able to say that I gave Coates, as a black man, the courtesy of reading his entire arc. But I'm not hopeful that he'll be able to stick the landing given how spectacularly he has nuetered the character
