June is known as Black Music Month and I thought it would be fun to make a thread each day using this template to discuss different Black music related to the questions here.

Yesterday's Thread is here if you want to participate: Black Music Month Challenge Day 8: What's Your Favorite Remix??

Today's Challenge: A song that reminds you of your parents

This song reminds me of my dad. He was the first person around me who listened to Jay constantly when he was around:

My mom had me singing Chante Moore's entire first album

My Dad(R.I.P) would randomly play a Sade album when I was kid.

He passed on some great advice to me over her...

Always play her stuff alone. Even the hardest dudes would cry hearing her voice

My Mom used to listen to a lot of reggae music when I was a kid as well.

I remember her playing Lady Saw, Elephant Man, and a lot of riddims that her boyfriend used to burn off his computer.

She even put me on to Mavado

Other than that, she played everything including X-Clan and Jill Scott.

my parents anniversary is on Christmas Eve, so growing up, whenever black stations play this song, their own parents love this song too
