I wonder why

Black children with acute appendicitis — a clearly painful emergency — are less likely than white children to get painkillers in the emergency room, researchers reported Monday.

And nearly as troubling, only about half of any of the kids got painkillers, even though they’re strongly recommended in cases of appendicitis, the researchers found.

“Black patients with moderate pain were less likely to receive any analgesia, and black patients with severe pain were less likely to be treated with opioids,” Dr. Monika Goyal of the Children’s National Health System in Washington and colleagues wrote in the Journal of the American Medical Association’s JAMA Pediatrics.

What’s to blame? Probably a combination of an unwarranted fear of opioids such as morphine and fentanyl, combined with unconscious bias against African-American kids, experts said.

There may be something to this but IDK man that is a pretty specific condition and rather rare. Pain medications like Vicodin, Norco, etc are the most prescribed drugs in the U.S. If they are less likely to prescribe it to blacks I certainly can not tell. Some days it feels like all I fill are pain medications.

Parents have to be an advocate for their children, especially when they are receiving medical care.

This is because for hundreds of years they've promoted the idea that blacks are "sub-human", and feel less pain. They used to experiment on women without giving them any pain medicication, because they believed blacks had higher tolerances for pain. When that became scientifically proven to be false, they've subtly and not so subtly promote it consistently through the use of the media.

That's why the term "chimp" or calling blacks monkeys is so offensive, because they used to justify their evil with the belief That we are "sub-human"

Mind you, Africans have 100% human DNA while Europeans have traceable amounts of Neanderthal blood...

I think many black ppl in general are intimidated in that setting.

I heard a story years ago about the differences in how black ppl tell their kids to behave with the doctor vs. White kids.

Parents of black kids pretty much just want them to shut up and behave while the parents of the white kids encouraged them to ask the doctor questions
