since I moved to Denver and the elevation is higher...my scalp and hair be getting so dry and itchy.

:why:

Also its not like when I lived in Brooklyn and I could just walk down the street and pick up some olive oil shampoo and conditioner, some pink lotion, and call it a day at one of them black hair stores (the black owned ones).

So please recommend me something that can make my scalp not itch and also keep my hair soft and shiny. I'm thinking of growing it out...i havent been to the barbers since this quqrantine started.

Go on Amazon right now and get you some Cantu shea butter for men. I was having the same exact problem as you and it nipped that shyt in the bud quick, and make sure to comb through your hair with a good comb too since you haven't gotten a cut in a while.

Are you drinking enough water? Contrary to what products sold in the store, if you aren't drinking enough water your skin is gonna be dry all over. Majority of people don't drink enough water for real, if you have to apply lotion multiple times a day to keep from being ashy then thats an example of not drinking enough water, and it affects the scalp too.

If it's dandruff then thats different, but dandruff is usually oily flakes not dry ones.

Oil on the scalp aint gonna work the same in the mountains cause if its cooler up there the oil might be solidified and the flakes could be dried product, like coconut type oils. You can try a light oil like jojoba oil and leave it in for like an hour before shampooing and conditioning. If your shampoo and conditioner has alot of alcohol products that shyt is gonna dry your hair out too but alot of stuff with black hair is trial and error for real because there's alot of smoke and mirrors with hair products since the majority of the companies aren't black owned. You just gotta read the labels.

Jojoba is like a sealer so it'll get the scalp but doesn't penetrate hair follicles for real. Other option is a leave in spray conditioner using water and a water based conditioner you wash with. I use Giovanni that's sold at Target, put some in a spray bottle, fill it with water, shake it up and then you got homemade spray on leave in conditioner.
