Martin Baker was born and raised in Sikeston, Missouri , where he attended Sikeston Public School and is a proud graduate of SHS. Growing up with family in both Sikeston and St. Louis fostered a love for the 1st District area. Today, St. Louis is home for Martin, a home he is working to make a better place for all, both ourselves and our children.
Martin began his political path during his studies at University of Missouri, Columbia where he majored in Political Science and Criminal Justice. It was during this time that he began volunteering at the local, state and national level and eventually serving as a Student Senator.
Martin continued this path and in 2007 was selected as the Missouri Delegate for the National Black Republican Association. Driven to make home a better place, he co-founded both Move-On-Up.org and Cornerstone Conservative Coalition.
Motivated with a deep sense of pride and love for Missouri, Martin is asking for the chance to strengthen the 1st Congressional District. Martin embraces the principles of the Frederick Douglass Republican Movement which are 1) Respect for the US Constitution 2) Respect for Life 3) Belief in Limited Government 4) Belief in Personal Responsibility. His family is deeply rooted in Missouri and he believes in and works hard to protect those time honored principles and traditions found here in Missouri.
