Reality
Make your own luck.
Felt like making this post after looking through the Black Wall street thread.
In almost any thread where folks are talking about being constructive and building up in their community, I see the same counterpoints used to explain why that wont work.
Largely, the arguments fall into one of two buckets w/ these variations:
1. Cacs won't let it work
"I give up."
My issue with this is, which one of these arguments is new? Were humongous strides not made when most of these were even worse?
Do we really think CACs can be as aggressively racist as they were in the 50s and 60s? (Not saying racism isn't alive and well)
Do we really think the Gov't is that much more interested in fukking up black money when it's now more diverse than ever?
Is the private sector not more diverse than ever?
Does information not flow more freely than ever?
Do blacks have a better self-image now than they did 50-60 years ago? Let's not romanticize the past and conveniently forget that dudes were walking around with conks.
Is the black dollar not stronger than it's ever been?
Are blacks less imitated and culturally influential than they were 50 years ago?
Then why, if we made huge strides politically through the civil rights movement and spiritually/psychologically through the black power movement, can we not make similar strides economically when there are so many things tilting more in our favor than the were 50 years ago?
Serious question...
And for those of you who may make some of these arguments in threads, at the end of the day, are you really throwing your hands up and taking your ball home?

Largely, the arguments fall into one of two buckets w/ these variations:
1. Cacs won't let it work
- Racist cacs acting through the gov't will infiltrate and/or destroy
- Racist cacs acting as private individuals will destroy
- Cacs naturally take care of their own to the exclusion of blacks so black economics can't work
- The wealthiest blacks are too infatuated w/ whiteness
- The "smartest" blacks/black professional class is uninterested in black economics
- The average black person
- Poor and/or ignorant blacks will tear anything blacks try to build down
