The 2019 isn’t really a horror movie. Nothing even remotely scary in it. No tension. Nothing. And aside from a winter setting, this has nothing in common with the original.

It made about 4.5 million. Most horror films open low, but have decent runs to make up for it. Star Wars/ Jumanji are going to make this hard for it to keep screens and get decent showtimes.

It’s also not a good movie. And it’s not bad in a fun way like some horror movies are. The first 2/3 of the movie feels like a hybrid of a freshman gender studies paper and fan fiction. And the last 1/3 just goes off the rails.

I wouldn’t look at that as a flop. all the buzz around this movie alone is saying something. Free advertisement. I look at it like horror movies are financially good as long as they make a profit over the expenses. Horror is a small niche anyway and not many people are into horror to the extent that we are but we are a loyal fan base - they will probably make up the back end off streams alone . And of course there will be the inevitable Black Christmas 2.
