Saunders Wants More Money: I Can Beat Gennady Golovkin!

Newly crowned WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders has no problem with a unification against WBA/IBO/IBF king Gennady Golovkin - if the money is right or the fight takes place in England.
Last week Golovkin's team sent an offer to Frank Warren, who promotes Saunders, to stage a unification showdown on April 23rd. The offer is reportedly over $2 million.
Saunders (23-0, 12 KOs) captured the title last month with decision win over Andy Lee. Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs), is currently the mandatory challenger to WBC champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KOs). Both Golovkin and Canelo are taking interim fights before a potential clash in the fall. Golovkin's return is being penciled in for the April date with Madison Square Garden already on hold in New York City.
"An offer has been made but people need to understand I don't have a loss on my record and it's not like Golovkin's last opponent David Lemieux who had lost twice before he fought him," Saunders explained to scribe Nick Parkinson.
"I believe I'm a better champion than Lemieux was so deserve more. They [Golovkin's team] are not chucking peanuts around but I'm not going in there just to pick the money up. If I take the fight with Golovkin I genuinely believe I could beat him but they have got to put some proper money on the table and if they do that then I will do it. I could earn that money against someone else. They are offering life changing money but it's not just about that because it would be a big risk for me."
According to Saunders, he could make the same amount of money for a rematch with Chris Eubank Jr. or another voluntary defense in his backyard. He wants enough money to make it an opportunity so lucrative where he can't refuse.
"They've got to pay me more money than I would get for the Chris Eubank Jr rematch. Now I'm world champion I've got options and I could make my money elsewhere. Most definitely the fight with Golovkin will happen at some point, most definitely. He wants to fight me because he wants to unify all the belts," Saunders said.
"I'm not ruling out fighting Golovkin next, I've got to talk to my manager and Frank Warren about it. I will fight him but I would like it to be in England and if they can do that I would take a bit less, but they have to give me something. But there are other middleweights out there for me like [British champion] Nick Blackwell and unbeaten American fighters or even Lemieux. I would be a big underdog against Golovkin but I believe I could pull off the upset."
