For me, it's been like this for awhile, quiet dinners with family, buy myself something, dinner with maybe 3 close friends, and that's it. For a few years I went to the Hyatt for a few days. Friends who are my age seem to be going the opposite direction, more money, more decadence, more drugs/alcohol, longer binges, I think it's an effort to still 'feel young', and retain some control over age and the aging process, like if I REALLY celebrate my birthday, it makes it ok I'm getting older, something like that.
