I’m going to keep saying it, progressives need to be as extreme as the right was with the tea party and trumpism. There should only be a seek and destroy mentality and nothing else. fukk compromising with people like this.

Not enough public support/strong enough base. A lot of people want progressive policies and changes but don't want to support the progressive politicians.
This is why it was a top priority of the Democratic establishment to sideline Bernie, to keep the progressive wing on the fringe of the party.

Because most of them are outspoken women or the double whammy, women of color.
Sanders has the old white guy advantage but being an Independent will forever lock him out of the top tiers of the Democratic party.
Facts. Progressive policies actually require politicians to do their jobs for once. It’s why I think it’s foolish to continue this big tent bullshyt. The centrists are firmly in charge and are only going to whore out the progressives when they need votes.
I think where progressives mess up at it taking on issues that can alienate other people that would otherwise support their overall platform. They should be focused on the GND, UBI, student debt relief, and criminal justice reform/end to the drug war. They need to be trying to appeal to the working class as much as the educated. The message has to be more accessible.
I think the majority of the problem is messaging.
i would be agreeable to them just completely breaking away from the dems if trumpism fractures the GOP. if there are 4 “parties” I find that more palatable then the GQP, mod dems and progressives. Then we will all just be losers
To be fair, a large establishment puts out tons of propaganda to segment the population enough with a bunch of infighting and focus on unimportant details that by design keeps them from successfully coalescing around an individual who has a realistic chance of upsetting corporate+state power.
A lot of people seem to be under the impression that politicians, as they are now, actually run things. They are simply stewards to the people who run society: corporations and various institutions of the state like the state department and CIA whose whole being is seeking to control society and other countries to serve American corporate interests. Biden and most of the politicians currently are funded and kept in power by these private entities.
There is a reason Joe Manchin went and talked in-depth and gave thought-out answers to dark money figures on that call that was leaked instead of to his voters and the public at large. He knows who butters his bread and so do all these other politicians. So they are always going to act in the interest of privatization and corporate power.
When someone comes along who has a serious chance of upsetting things, then the media, various politicians, and various actors usually getting their paycheck from corporate entities pull out all the stops to smear and stop that person from being successful.
