On Friday, reports surfaced that Ron Lester, who played Billy Bob in Varsity Blues, was in critical condition. Unfortunately, Lester's agent Dave Bradley has confirmed to EW that Lester has now passed away. The actor was 45 years old at his time of death, and he had been hospitalized for nearly four months in Dallas, Texas.
According to his agent, Lester's cause of death was liver and kidney failure. Lester struggled with his weight and health for numerous years. He had gastric bypass surgery back in 2001 to help drop his weight.
Lester appeared in several TV shows and movies. One of earliest roles was playing Billy Bob in Varsity Blues. Lester also appeared in the TV series Freaks and Geeks, Popular, andSabrina, The Teenage Witch.
