It only worked back then because the team won
Even back then players hated hard ass coaches if they didn't win

Parcells was one of a kind but he is also a relic of his time. Still great coach.

I remember Wayne Chrebet saying he was recovering from a high ankle sprain or something and he went to talk to Parcells. Parcells didn’t believe he was injured and started kicking him in the ankles.

players get paid to much and have more power than coaches now. Look at mike brown talking slick about De'Aaron Fox and fired the next day. Even in College where coaches used to have power if you talk slick a player will just enter the portal ,
