G Dep joint all day. (OG version without Faith on the hook though.) Sad/hilarious. 'bought my daughter a Nintendo now she calling it Dad.' 'talk blunts and boys and she jump for joy, shyt is twisted, opportunity knocked but I missed it, out in the park getting lifted.'
The Biggie joint is contrived and sappy.
BIG has that flow/delivery that only he can do convincingly which is a cheat code. It's immaculate. But when you really pay attention to what he's saying, the song is about how stressful and treacherous the drug game is and having to juggle that with your own personal issues but the song still has a lot of bravado and ego. But the focus is the stress and how he's tired of it. And while he does talk about the despair, he still makes it sound like a cool story in some ways.
The GDep song when you pay attention to the lyrics is about the accumulation of bad luck, shytty circumstances and bad choices. It's about how much of a loser he feels like in all aspects of his life, the lost of pride, acknowledging that some of it is his fault, the stress, the humiliation, how emasculated he feels, how inadequate he feels, how sad he is for his loved ones and how he can't help them, the despair of it all... it's like a cry for help. To me that's a lot more relatable. He really digged deep...
Now that i think about it, maybe the better comparaison would have been Suicidal Thoughts...
