Yeah I'm not really fukking wit this. Seems like druggy junkie kid rap on the surface with some emo elements. Maybe I'm racist, idk. But I don't really wanna hear a cac rap about 1st world problems in a world full of wannabe entertainers.
I'd like something a little more specific or unique to set you apart from the crowd. Idk, song isn't bad, I'm sure it has it's respective "crowd", but execution wise, the song overall has a lifeless, dragging vibe.
Dopest part to me was the positive/family/clarity lines. Just feel like you could've made this much doper if it were a more focused verse.
If the beat is reworked a little, given some more "oompfh", and the theme is changed, or the concept a little more fleshed out (there's WAYYYYY more ways to drive home the "surrounded by people but feel alone" vibe - word to Aleesia Cara on "Here") then you'll have a minor hit on your hands I'd say is worth investing money into pushing.
The video was cute, in a "ohhh, compensating for a cheap video with effects a la "You Guessed It" by O.G. Maco" kind of way. Imo, should've been way more trippy. Even drive the point home more with a few chick's all over you while you rap to the camera as if they're not even there.
The lighting was bad, I understand the look you were going for, it just would've worked better with better lighting, something that's relatively cheap to invest in for your own video.
I'm not hating by any means. Even if I don't like a song or artist, I'm gonna give honest input, cuz that's what I want when I drop my shyt. Sometimes as an artist, there's certain technical things you have to work out before the actual music can be digested by the listener. Technical things that distract from the music itself. This song is a perfect example. It's like you checked all the boxes for a modern rap song, autotune, check. EDMish, "wavy vibey" beat, check. Trippy animation, check. But the devil is in the DETAILS of the lyrics and production, the two things that should be put BEFORE any of that other stuff. That's my critique of the song/vid.
Everyone has an opinion, as an artist, I value opinions that make me look at my art objectively (not defensively), and cause me to improve on my craft. That's all I'm trying to do. Nowadays you can't give constructive criticism without being a "hater", and nikkas will dap & rep you just because they like you as a poster or want the same in return. That's not Hip-Hop. Keep doing your thing, all of you.
