In January, President Obama announced a block-by-block approach to relieving poverty in Los Angeles. Federal money, he said, would pour into a newly created Promise Zone.

The boundaries encompassed crowded immigrant communities around MacArthur Park and Koreatown, as well as upscale areas of Hollywood and Los Feliz. Left out was South L.A., where the poverty rate is higher. The exclusion stunned many South L.A. leaders.

and that was the straw that broke the camels back. Minorities in LA are done. He's not our president.

there are 31 zones all over the country and the whole promise zone idea is based of the harlem children zone http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harlem_Children's_Zone
the promise zone is a great program and a great idea and obama is on point with it

Nah Hollywood (my hood) and Los Feliz/Silverlake BEEN gentrified. That was the first place I went when I got off the plane. Right there on Santa Monica and La Brea...check it out yourself. nothing but new condos every where. Hell, even Hollywood and Vine is lookin piff now.

Cmon, no way are those places as bummed out as 56th and Avalon, or the J's, or ECC hood. No waaaay.
