I think that has more to do with the era they covered it, than the actual show itself.

from 88-95 that's pretty much the Golden Era of hip hop.

Rap City showed shyt you never seen on MTV, had the classic booth freestyles,
etc.

Rap City really put on for hiphop in the late 80s and early 90s, even though I was too young to watch it until the last year. I've seen the re-runs and sh*t. It's Yo Raps easily.
