This weekend I started re-watching "The Knick" on HBOMax from the beginning. I had forgotten how good that show was. In fact, I think I would go so far as to say it's better than ANY show currently airing on TV.
That got me thinking...was the fall 2014 TV season the very height of "Peak TV"? I did a search to see what other shows were airing that season, and I was kind of shocked to see all the great shows that were airing at the same time that year:
2014-15 TV Season Scorecard
According to that list, here's a sample of some of the shows airing the same season, almost can't believe these were all on at the same time:
The Flash (Season 1, when it was good)
Hannibal
The Americans (Season 3)
Banshee
Better Call Saul
Black Sails
Boardwalk Empire
Daredevil (Season 1)
Deutschland 83
Game of Thrones (Season 5)
Justified (Final season)
The Knick
Mad Men (Final season)
Mr. Robot (Season 1)
Penny Dreadful
Rectify
True Detective (OK, it was S2, but still)
That's not even ALL the shows that were good, I left out a lot of other decent shows that I watched like "iZombie" (decent) and "Arrow" (when it was still good) and "Power" (when it was still good), and "Marco Polo" (most underrated show of the season) and "Sleepy Hollow" and Veep, and Vikings, and ... so many shows.
Was Fall 2014 the greatest TV season of all time? Years in the future, will historians look back on it as the true Golden Era of TV?
