What works for one person won't necessarily work for you.
Depending on your gait, you will want to get the appropriate running shoe for you. There are heel strikers, forefoot striker and in between striker.

go to a running store where they analyze your step. then they can recommend sneakers that will properly suit you.

once you know which sneaker you like then you can buy em where ever they are cheapest.

i've been wearing the same sneakers (asics nimbus) for about 4 years now. i just get a new pair of the latest model every few months.

Asics tri-noosa 7's. Did a half marathon in jan, no problems. Last year I ran in AM 2011's & blew my knee out.

To the OP, the Tri-Noosa is a performance shoe, not a training shoe. This shoe is meant for competitions where you are keeping a mazza-fu-king Kenyan mofo pace.
When getting a training shoe, more weight in your shoe isn't a problem. I wear 'cushioned' running shoes because I'm a heel striker and have a high arch. It's like 13+ ounces. Performance running shoes are like sub 9 ounces. Minimal cushioning.

Check out this link.

Best shoe I've had was Adidas Response. It's got a lot of foam. Not with the funky holes in the midsole or see-through sections.

Bingo, you should have a professional fit you, and later buy the shoe on the web. I have extremely flat feet, so I rock Brooks Beast. In general, you can't go wrong with Asics, Brooks, or New Balance running shoes.

New Balances are very underrated . Great racing shoes .

Been eyeing Asics for a while now even though I've been running in Nikes for over a decade.
