Got this idea from a post i made in the new star trek thread where i said it might be the best movie of all time which got me thinking... what do you guys collectively think is the best movie of all time??? not your favorite movie, but what you think is the best. Im going to take all the top answers and form a poll in which we can all vote on the best. For now im going with the first matrix. As far as story, plot, character development, action and being groundbreaking, nothing like the matrix has been done or seen before or after it. My favorite movie is the Lion King tho, so that is a close second.

The Godfather II
Citizen Kane
The Sting
Casablanca
There Will Be Blood
Boogie Nights
The Social Network
Chinatown
The Third Man
Raging Bull

First 10 I thought of. It would be different in 10 minutes.

But this thread sucks.

T2: Judgment Day

if u wanna talk matrix, T2 was the matrix of the early 90s, nobody did what was done in that movie before and it wow'd audiences, to this very day that movie holds up in todays technology, a testament to how good James Cameron is as a director. The musical score is still a recognizable monument in film, the story is as good a message you can find in any sci-fi tale, and as Arnold movies go, it has to be his best "acted" role of his career, with his most emotional/dramatic line of any his movies ("i know now why you cry, but it is somethin i can never do"). It may not be "godfather" but T2 is to me the godfather of what sci-fi/action genre can get.

Good video on how The matrix just ripped off Ghost in the Shell.
