Best free software to record on?

I usually record music (no studio) on audacity but I wanna know is there any similar or better free programs that's good for recording and mixing?

You can do everything in FL and it's free so you have nothing to lose giving it a shot.
I'd assume the best option is Protools. But it's not the software that makes the man, so if you know how to rock Audacity, I'd stick with it.

Nah protools ain't free. If I remember correctly it'll run you a pretty penny for top of the line shyt. I think the cheapest they got is 35-50. But someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

there's a few places to find fl and ableton

i'd advise starting with fl though

i dont think its easy to "record vocals" in fruity, you have to play around with the settings
