Actually I remember watching 9/11 documentaries and the people on the planes did in fact, call people on the ground.They interviewed there family members about the phone conversations with there relatives on the plane.



It at least happened on fight 11 and 93, IIRC on flight 11 the fight attendant was on the phone with 911 right up until the plane crashed into the North Tower.
