Best 2D hand drawn animated sprites in a fighting game besides the recent KOF13?

Street Fighter II is obviously the goat but to keep it 100 the animation didn't age well. Mortal Kombat II on the other hand still looks good to this very day. (but MKII isn't animated so it doesn't count)

3rd Strike is animated on a completely different level than any other 2D fighting game. The animation of KoF13 and BlazBlu looks very stiff compared to it. The animation in KoF13 looks as if it is missing lots of transition frames while SF3 is smooth as hell. Really Mark of the Wolves has better animation than KoF13.

in terms of overall detail and quality, some of the later guilty gears, last blade 2 and some of the samurai shodowns are up there with it
