Bernie sanders is a far left self proclaimed socialist who has only won primarily in very liberal blue state of vermont, his ideas of high taxes, lax borders, socializing every aspect of society, barring oil and gas/drilling etc has no appeal to win national elections on a huge scale. This is just talking to the crowd and supporters. They want to coddle people who have shown you they laugh at your torment and demise
