Looking for some advice. I've been stuck at 185 for 2 weeks now. I can push it and do 195 and even 205 but I don't feel like the reps are the greatest and there usually isn't anyone around to spot so I don't love doing this.

Are there some complimentary exercises I should be doing? I don't do any tricep isolation exercises, would those help? Would adding in some dumbbell presses help?

Thanks, brehs!

You more concerned about your numbers or forming a chest? :leostare:
I don't care about numbers, I'd just like to keep progressing. You dudes know more about this than I do, if you all say keep hitting 185 and make sure those reps are perfect; I'm down,. f you tell me I should be doing some supplementary exercise, that works too.

No condescending tone intended. :whoa: I highly recommend dumbbell press..that's how I got my chest size and dips. Then you could add a 25 or whatever for reps and be able to bail out with ease.

Do Pyramids on the bench.

Start with a 5 set Pyramid and increase as your endurance improves.

185 8 reps
195 5 reps?
205 1-3 reps?
195 5reps?
185 8-10 reps?

With proper rest between sets, your last set at your lowest weight will feel lighter than your 1st. You will be able to increase reps and strength that way.

I generally do a 9 set Pyramid on the bench, really helps to grow & maintain strength and endurance.

Well, if you peaked out on one-rep max for bench, then it's time to mix up your chest workouts to low weight/high rep chest exercises, then switch to mid weight/medium number of reps, and then go back to high weight/low rep.
With dumbbells, do not go for one rep max. It's not bad, but it's not ideal as you can injure yourself. Dumbbell presses are about activating more muscle groups for balance of the dumbbells. That is, don't attempt 90 lbs. dumbbell presses.
