Yes Ben has two Oscars and he could of very well had 3 had he not gotten the Best Director sub. But the fact is this is just his 3rd Movie. So many great Directors waited years even decades to win an Oscar. So never won it. This idea that Ben was intitled to a Best Director didn't fly with me. Again it was his 3rd movie. If you don't get nominated you come back stronger.
I'm happy for Ben and he is shaping up to be a pretty good Director. I've liked all 3 of his films. His actor career went way down but he came back strong with his directing career. Matt Damon had the better overall career and we all know Matt most likely wrote the bulk of "Good Will Hunting" and brought his boy Ben along for the ride. But again I can't hate, "Argo" was a good movie even though it made it seem like The Americans did most of the plan when it was the Canadians.
how did his movie get nominated for best picture but not him for best director of the best picture?

It's happen before. "Driving Miss Daisy" won Best Picture and didn't win Best Director. "Saving Private Ryan" won best Director and didn't win Best Picture. Ang Lee also won Best Director for "Brokeback Mountain" and that lost to "Crash" for best picture. So this has happen in the past but they didn't give to Steven cause they knew they weren't going to give Lincoln best picture so with the Ben Snub, Ang Lee split the difference. The Academy was put in a corner cause now "Argo" starts winning everything from Golden Globes to Critics Chioce to Producer Guild to Writer's Guild, the whole 9 so they knew they had to give it "Best Picture". They still could of went with Steven but they for some reason did cause Ben wasn't on there.
