not surprising, i gave up my beliefs as a young in then went back into the church as i got older. most young people don';t even really believe they just follow what their parents do
Exactly. Thats why it's being abandoned. Bill Maher said this too how most kids just stay catholic or religious in general to not upset aun mary and gramma ethel. We dont need religion anymore so why should we still follow it?

There's personal religion/faith and there's organized religion. I suppose it's up to each and every one of us to think if and how much does religion help us. I have no problem with someone believing in god. My parents are religious.
But IMO organized religion has long outlived its usefulness. Now at best it's a bad joke and at worst it's the most corrupt institution on Earth.

god is a stupid fukkin idea because how many interpretations of god have there been, almost a million? now theres two sides to that:
1. god is real, but no one actually has the right idea of what it is or its different for everyone
2. since everyone is following a different set of rules to get into gods kingdom, theres only one real god and everyone else has been following a false path
god is played out
As an atheist, I could care less what people believe in....whatever makes you happy man.
The only time I get pissed is when I run out of liquor on Sunday and can't get any off sale.
You should actually care because they are the same people that make up crazy laws, prohibit people from doing regular activities, preach hate, oppress women, blow up shyt.

I think there just more avenues and reasons to question any and everything we used to believe in these days. There is more information coming to us. It's not like the world pre-internet where the only information you heard outside of your friends and family were your teachers and the radio. You don't have to discuss these uncomfortable topics with anyone anymore. You can research on your own and begin to think about these things on your own. You're no longer concealed to a bubble. The church just doesn't play the same role that it used to. I think I've always benefited from going to a very liberal church and even I question things all the time. I've never stopped believing, but I don't take anything at face value anymore.
