So, I've done online searches telling me the benefits of one over the other, and some telling me that I can just use both in conjunction (maybe GarageBand first and then Audacity for noise removal and other things Garageband doesn't offer).

I'm just interested in downloading tracks and laying vocals over them. I won't be recording any live instruments and I don't make my own beats. What would y'all recommend for Hip-Hop?

Also, I just purchased the PreSonus AudioBox Studio (complete Hardware/Software Recording Kit) but haven't really messed with it yet.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

if you're just recording vocals, definitely use garageband.

eventually you need to download Adobe Audition, similar layout to garageband without the beat making aspect.

My brother can hook me up with software (Studio One Professional that I can use with PreSonus), but I need to start w/ the basic stuff so GarageBand is good.
