Does the writer give the script to a producer or studio before it’s made?

Then they have enough confidence in the script & green light it and it goes into production?

My guess is Their agent(if they have one) who then gets it to producers/execs…if you dont have an agent its a crap shoot. You can submit it to studios but who knows if people with pull read it.

Because I work in scripted series I usually don’t pitch my scripts, I pitch a series outline.


I’m sure that one day i’ll be required to pitch a spec script as well but both of the series i’ve gotten funding for have been through detailed outlines.


Keep in mind I’m independent. I don’t have an agent I do my own leg work
