Want to up this because the film is fantastic. Saw it at Sundance and loved it. The whole cast was there and the little girl is smart as I don't know what for her age. Black people have to support

My dream is to go to Sundance. How much did it cost in total.

The group I went with has a lot of connections so I'm not sure it'll be accurate for everybody, but in total I ended up spending a little less than $400 (including flight and lodging and passes for 4 nights). Was an amazing experience, hopefully can go back next year too

I didn't :wow: but I could understand if someone did at the ending. My opinion. Hushpuppy (the Black girl) def. has room to grow as an actress. But I think it's more the fault of the script. Her "physical" acting so to speak was good. The father was a good actor. Probably the best in the film to me. Def. is a weird movie but not in a bad way. Sorta reminded me of the Road except it was father/daughter.

As far as message of the movie. Kinda weird. I don't really get why they chose a girl. He basically raised his daughter to be a boy. I get the whole survivor aspect. This was def. a good film. And hopefully they will make more Black led films this way.

Powerful and aesthetically beautiful film. It's all the more amazing because it was made by a small studio committed to a DIY ethos that avoids the trappings of the major studios and their usual money-hungry practices.
