Torn about this. Part of me thinks its great for obvious reasons, but I also think this is just another example of us crow-barring American ideals into a country that doesn't want them. These women are absolutely courageous to be doing what they're doing, but having worked quite a bit with the Afghan Army, I don't see them ever actually getting integrated into the system.
Seems like more of something to hang our hat on.
Its also frustrating to see how we handle training the Afghan Army. Counting off in English, training them through interpreters, and what not. Somewhere there's some high ranking officer patting himself on the back for this mess.
