A Day Early, But You Know I Had To Do It Right :win:

Sandy Doesn't Postpone Knicks-Nets Game

The highly anticipated regular-season opener between the Brooklyn Nets and the New York Knicks scheduled for Thursday night at the Nets' $1 billion Barclays center will be played as scheduled, despite the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy.

NBA spokesman Tim Frank on Tuesday afternoon tweeted that the league is "assessing the situation," but said in an email later Tuesday evening that the game would go on as scheduled.

Expect 'Sheed To Play Thursday, Camby & STAT Out

It's unclear how many minutes he will play, but Rasheed Wallace will definitely take the floor in the Knicks' opener on Thursday against the Brooklyn Nets.

"I have to see what kind of flow we have in the game and who is doing what, but he will play some. No doubt about that," Mike Woodson said on Tuesday.

But with Amar'e Stoudemire out 6-8 weeks following a left knee debridement, the Knicks need Wallace to contribute immediately.

Also on the injury front, Tyson Chandler did some running drills on the side of Tuesday's practice and said he's on target to play Thursday. He hopes to be able to take contact in Wednesday's practice. He wore a knee brace on Tuesday and said he isn't sure if he'll have to do so Thursday against Brooklyn.

Chandler's backup, Marcus Camby, will probably not be able to play on Thursday. Camby has practiced just once since injuring his calf in the first week of camp. He missed practice on Tuesday because he had trouble traveling from his house to the training facility in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Nets Discusses Deron's (Minor) Injury

At Friday's practice, the Brooklyn Nets announced Deron Williams received an injection for left ankle synovitis (inflamed tissue) and will miss two days of practice. Coach Avery Johnson said while the injury bothered Williams off and on, it hadn't limited the PG during the preseason and it isn't expected to be serious following treatment.

Keith Bogans (right knee/tailbone), Josh Childress (left ankle) and Andray Blatche (flu) all sat out of practice. Blatche tweeted a reply to @BrooklynNets, saying he "felt much better" today.
