his offense more than makes up for any defensive deficiencies. I mean Omar Vizquel is the best SS or Ozzie Smith but would anybody take them over Arod, Cal, Jeter, etc? Yes Pudge is possibly the most overated player of the generation. His offensive numbers are based on counting stats and average, his rate stats arent as good as Posada and his defense is based around his throwing out runners percentage yet he only called for fastballs with men on base to achieve that, he cared more about that then winning games and his pitchers. pitchers hated throwing to him. so hes overated all around. still a hall of famer but not close to the best catcher all time
