One of my favorite games ever turned 20 today.

If you had a N64 this was a MUST COP back in the day

This joint may be one of the best platformers ever and it still holds up

  • Excellent level design
  • fire music
  • gameplay variety
  • funny characters

I remember when nintendo sent the promo VHS tape I had to get the game after watchin that :wow_hmm:

Come to think of it was one of the few games I remember going to Toys r us to cop it :mjcry:

Best rare game they lowkey fell off after this imo

How y'all feel tho any memories or thoughts about this classic

98 was a great year in gaming. Gruntilda the last boss was a pain. I remember putting the game away for a while because I could not beat it. Did beat her eventually.

Great game and much better than DK 64. That was extremely disappointing when it came out a year later. I hope Banjo can make it in Smash Bros.

Been mostly playing retro games recently and I just picked this up. Had a PS back in middle school during that era. My friends all had N64's so I played plenty of Goldeneye and Smash Bros, but I never really played any single player games.

Bought an n64 at a retro game store in town and finally just started Banjo Kazooie. What an absolute joy of a game this is brehs :ohlawd:

I've never beat this game. Since like 98
That's wild. Nintendo games werent particularly difficult at that time. They were still made as fun and friendly, not quite to where "everyone can play" like now.

I got challenging as in it took some skill during later parts but I don't remember it being difficult at all. But you had to play a lot of N64. If you didn't then navigating with the controller and such would've made the game almost impossible. When I hear people say an N64 game was tough, it's not generally because of gameplay but just the fact they could never get a handle on the controller.

Same, I had a ps1 but those in my neighborhood had n64.

Ps1 was largely a single player experience for me (Crash, Spyro, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Siphon Filter, Chrono Cross, Xenogears, etc)

Whereas N64 was definitely the party/group get-together ish. Split screens with Star Fox, Bomberman, Diddy Kong Racing, Goldeneye, etc was wild.

Never actually played Mario 64, Banjo, Donkey Kong, Zelda, etc.
