Back to the future question.

I was watching BAck to the future over the weekend,, had a marathon on and it is my favorite movie..

But something hit me this viewing that raises a question (not a plothole)

When Doc goes back to '85 to gets Marty to help fix his kids... I just realized that wasnt needed.. All he had to do was change the way MArty continued to grow..

Doc and MArty travelled and changed the future which changed that day .. but because they went back to the past it could always change again... BTTF's entire movie was not needed... but of course this is me talking after 30 years of watching BTTF and other time travel movies... I mean Doc tells Jennifer at teh end of 3 the future is what you make it which technically meant the beginning half of BTTF 2 was not needed .. but just for future eye candy and for old man biff to steal MArty's idea..

100% correct. Anything they did in the future would not have made a difference once they went back to 85 (without Biff stealing the DeLorean). All Doc had to do was tell Marty to watch his kid on that day in 2015

The reason that's there though was as a joke. They never intended for it to be a sequel and they just wanted to throw a nice hook to the audiences to get excited for something they never planned to do, which is why they (the director and writer) have more love for the 3rd one than the 2nd because they wanted to make a western and in order to get to the western, they needed to make back to the future 2 which they didn't want to make anyway

so Marty .. do the cubs win this year? i know you made a copy of Grey's SPorts Almanac.. Also for it to have 50 years of EVERY MAJOR sportting event why was it so thin.. Was it an ebook?

Cubs will never win. It's thin because in the future, they apparently found a way to make thinner paper yet we haven't handled that yet. A few events happened in our past that changed our 2015 present. That whole Monica Lewinsky thing? That was one. The Kardashians would be another, and selfie sticks were the last straw. That's why there are no flying cars and why we're just now getting power laces (hopefully) Also, when's the last time you've seen a cafe 80s? The rise of 90s kids has changed a lot breh.

I said in my initial post .. its not a plot hole ... just a what if..

Maybe Doc did believe that he could change the future in the future.. and it wasnt until the events of 3 and after he met Clara he realized the future is whatever you make it..\

edit: Now that I think about it.. that is why Doc went to that day. he thought the future was a set thing..remember he was mad a Marty for tryign to tell him about his future.. So i could understand why he would go to that day...it was Clara and his ass getting stuck in 1885 that changed him..
