My last round at the gym I was putting up PRs all around:win:

My gym membership expired things been going on in my life and I neglected the gym for about 2 months:sadbron:

Then I started noticing I stopped looking as godly in my clothes so brehs I started back last Wednesday.

Shaved 20-40lbs on each lift and building back but it feels good man. Give my body a good 2-3 weeks to get greased up and I reckon I'll be setting PRs again:blessed:

reps for all my brethren who rep me in the name of my rejuvenated drive:obama:

Oh yeah and this time around I'm being more serious on squats and abs.

Play times over:birdman:

I just re-joined my gym as well. I'd been "working out at home" (kettle bell/dumbell/jumprope and sporadic running) for the last couple years. Sometimes I went hard, other times I slacked off.

The gym membership keeps me consistently hitting weights 3-4x a week. Throw in a 1-2 cardio sessions, and I'm good.

The bad news is -- I was deadlifting this past weekend, and fukked up my lower back (never happened before in years of deadlifting). Lost focus I guess. Won't happen again. So, I'm taking it easy for a few days. Will stick to light deadlifts for a couple weeks going forward, and concentrate on squats (which, strangely, don't hurt at all).
Still feels good to be back in there.

I still don't get the infatuation with deadlifts in the workout community

Why not heavy squats and back extentions w/ plates? I'll do stiff legged deadlifts, but regular deadlifts to me are kinda dangerous

Good question. I really like doing deadlifts. I'm not a trainer, so I can't tell you that there are definite benefits to doing deadlifts -- but they just FEEL great when you're finished with a few sets.

Kettlebell swings are probably safer, and I do those, too. But they just don't invigorate me like picking up something heavy.

I'm also fine going heavy with squats (heavy for me, anyway) ... but I generally will only go heavy with one or the other on a given day. Then I'll go heavy with the other 3-4 days later.

Oh ok I can understand that, personal preference I guess.

It's one of those exercises that most people struggle to have good form and help flexibility. If you can get it down its an excellent exercise, but if you can't you're better off doing something else. If you're an athlete that needs to build strength, they're great, and obviously you'd have a lifting coach to teach you the form and make sure your hips are flexible enough. Honestly a lot of people even have trouble sitting down on their squats, many cant bend at the hips and end up bending their knees too far forward. So it's all careful preparation.

I literally have no idea.

I was still warming up ... so I was only at 205. It was my second set, but i've never been that heavy of a deadlifter (never tried for a one-rep max, and I don't think I've ever done a set with over 300).

I assume I just lost focus and twisted or turned a little bit, or didn't drive/pull evenly with both sides of my body. Like I said, it's never happened before, so I don't really know how it happened. It was more embarrassing than anything else, even though it was pretty painful.
