He speak on finessing TLC?

TLC was a cautionary tale for anyone who wanted in on the music business. I wouldn't say they were finesse, but looking at their situation, it's why artists should be more hands on and have more control over their careers. I think Fanmail is the album where they had the most input. T-Boz was turning poems into songs and that album had more of their ideas and creative input. Without writing or production credits, artists aren't collecting royalties. Although, they have an album that went 11X platinum, they had to split whatever they recouped off of that album three ways.

The entire Waiting to Exhale soundtrack still gets play from me. Early Toni Braxton still gets play from me. Soon as I get home stays in heavy rotation. I’m a huge Babyface fan .. super legend.
I was a baby face fan without knowing it for years.. he wrote everything damn

La reid was a drummer (and you can't take that away from him). but that's what he contributed (not the entire music).
Face played EVERYTHING which is why he didn't need help to make hits. but at points he did have help.
Babyface grew up with a guy named Daryl Simmons.
that was his true writing partner (hence his company Silent Partner Productions).
Simmons played the background, but in actuality, he's done more than la reid himself musically.
la reid did one song without Babyface (stone cold gentleman)
the main writer/producer on that track: Daryl Simmons

in Face's own words:

like Babyface says, him and la weren't even that tight
the La & Face thing was about image
and la parlayed the hell out of it
while others did the creative heavy lifting
