Wasn't this obvious to you from the start? It's a style that right now sets here apart. Because as you identify no mainstream act has really tried shyt like that in over 15 years.
Now that House and EDM and House influenced tracks are dominating the top 40 I think she's done well at blending a more sophisticated form of house with Hip-hop without tarnishing its integrity (see Minaj).
If you don't like deep house you probably won't like her music, but there are enough reasons to respect it.

Anyone pretending Azealia is simply a 'house' artist hasn't heard the much of her work, IMO though she hits harder with records like '212' then a single like this..EP was that work..Mixtape showed the potential..this video looking like an ancient BET lunchtime vid isnt the best look though. Still the best female artist at the moment..
