GRAZ, Austria — Austria veered to the right in a watershed election on Sunday as the far-right Freedom Party (FPÖ) stormed to victory, marking the first time since World War II that a party rooted in Nazi ideology has prevailed in a national ballot.

There you go folks. The adolf homeland trying to go back to their nazi roots. This is another reason why MAGA is so dangerous in 2024. They are gaining a serious supporters in Europe. All of these voters want to ditch democracy and go back to authoritarian regime. Very similar situation happening in Eastern Germany as well with far-right wing winning election in those territories.
Now the rest of Austrian politicians claim none of them will form a coalition, but a nearly 1/3 of those who voted are clearly showing that they are those open racists that bothsiders claim they have no problem with, because they like their racism open :mjlol:

This follows the trends we are seeing in most Western European countries.

However, as long as there is enough opposition to keep things democratic, the racist factions will lose in the long run. Immigration to Western Europe could be completely halted tomorrow, and the non-white proportion of the population would still continue to grow.

The only way these guys can realize their fantasies is under full-fledged fascism. Sadly, we can't rule out that possibility, but I think it is more unlikely than likely.

Not only it follows the trends, but it also follows the trend of history repeat:

Both austria and hungary right now are some of the biggest anti-European nations in Europe. Who started WW1? Austrian-Hungarian empire. Joined by Germans, who are also currently voting heavily for a far-right wing lunatics.

The new triple alliance of idiots.

Like you said, as long as there is enough of opposition, it should be controllable. But worries me is how fast they are gaining votes. None of that was happening before trump's victory in 2016.

You are right about a lot of the similarities, but there are a few big differences.

1. People in western countries are generally more humane than they were 100 years ago. I am not denying the very real racism, but objectively speaking, they are much more tolerant than they were. That makes it that much more difficult for extremists to gain traction. It is one thing to get the population on board with limiting immigration. But I believe only a small part of the population would be on board with something like deporting all non-whites. 100 years ago, that would not have been the case.

2. White Europeans are largely :flabbynsick:

There is a shortage of angry young men who would be necessary to serve as the foot soldiers of a fascist takeover.

I have spent a lot of time in Germany. From the outside, the Nazi history and news of surging popularity of the AfD sounds scary. But when you walk around Germany, what do you see? Balding old men with beer bellies, wrinkled old women with Merkel haircuts. What about the young men? You will see a lot of Turkish dudes working at kebab shops and different kinds of brown skinned guys picking up the orders and delivering them on their bicycles.

I am not terribly concerned. Even if the far right in Europe have the desire to do something, they are too old and tired to actually do it.

Didn’t both France and Italy (and a Scandinavian country I believe) also have far right parties either winning or expecting to win their elections?

Is immigration in Europe really that bad, to the point where people in different countries are turning far right or is it just internet fear mongering from those weird Save-Europe white supremacists?

From what I here, its has a lot to do with the recent waves in migration and a lot of the muslim/middle east migrants not assimilating well. Particularly with crime and freedom of speech issues.

You have to keep in mind Europe isn't as diverse outside its big cities and aren't as multicultural as the US and Latin America who had hundreds of years dealing with other ethnic/racial groups and cultural identity. I expect some push back as Europe itself isn't use to a lot of immigration, especially this quickly, plus having to redefine what a German/Pole/Austrian etc really is, but I think religion adds another cultural issue into play other than race/ethnicity.

But Europe needs to handle the issue quickly as I think its the primary factor of all these far right turns. A lot of the far right groups don't want to be in the EU either so it could have real consequences in regards to the European Union if they don't.

Edit: I think the Black pop will be ok, mainly due to sports and music lol. I think we stick out more which obviously causes a lot of racism but most African populations seem to assimilate pretty well imo.
