That's when injuries started. He had that resurgence in NJ after getting traded. He was very motivated but couldn't maintain that intensity and focus.

In his defense, he made it entirely clear for years that he was just bag chasing and why he stayed loyal to the Wizards as long as he did. It was clear to everyone that it was an overpay and dude just wasn't good like that.

Wizards basically gave him that NTC as goodwill for staying as loyal as he did even when it was obvious they were going to move him right after

The wage structure in football/soccer is so fukked the way players get paid. It’s not like this in any other sport like ball/hockey/NFL football. Like Mainoo right now there’s reports that he’s demanding 180-200k per week which again, what the fukk have you done? Shown some great flashes of brilliance LAST year for 10-15 games now teams figured you out, you’re injured most of this year and you supposedly want 200k a week? It’s madness. He had one good year at chelsea and been living off that ever since. Doesn't stay healthy and is already 26.

That's the thing young guys have a little spurt and then think they deserve it all. Only because you're young, not every young guy is going to be asaka or bellingham . And yeah once they are figured out or can't handle the grind of multiple games a week you see them for who they are.
