At what point, or what song pushed Kanye to that megastar level?

IMO, I'm gonna say "Flashing Lights"

Not that he wasn't getting big already from stuff like "Gold digger", but it seemed like "Flashing Lights" was around the time he hit that next level of superstardom.

And that song was literally EVERYWHERE.

he was megastar status way earlier than that. College Dropout was nominated at the Grammys for album of the year, Jesus Walks was nominated for song of the year, album got an XXL rating and was named best album of the year by Rolling Stone, had hit singles (All Falls Down, Jesus Walks) in Top 40 radio rotation.

Probably was Stronger. I'd say "Gold Digger" but i don't think people considered him a megastar at that point in time. "Flashing Lights" wasn't as big here in the south as much as "Stronger" was.

EASILY Gold digger!!! Right song, right time...capitalized of the Ray movie mega success. On the low (not really) that also launched the mini singing career of Jamie Fox.

At the time Gold Digger was released it was the fastest selling digital download of all time and the most downloads in a week.

Was #1 on Billboard for 10 straight weeks.

9th most successful song of the 2000s

IMO, it was two records. Jesus Walks let the world know he was more than just "another rapper". shyt was :whoo: Then, Gold Digger solidified it. That record was undeniable :wow:

Kanye's megastar status came from outside music, if it was just music then 'golddigger' but it was all his paparazzi stunts & acting up then he dropped that '808' which was trash but still did well and got spins. I would say the '808' made him a mega-star.

when the tabloids fiend for you, you're a mega-star.
