At what point did Forza surpass Gran Turismo?

Seems forza 7 outdoes GT7 in just about every way: way more cars (700 compared to GT7’s 400), more manufacturers, realistic car damage, more locations, better graphics, etc.

GT just looks so underwhelming in comparison. it used to be the king of racing games…what happened? at what point did forza just completely take over the genre?

Prolly during the 360 era tbh. Forza Motorsport games were dropping every couple years, then they hit us with Horizon. I forgot what a Gran Turismo was for a while.

There was a long time when GT was lagging behind forza bc it didn’t drop anything new. Forza had Motorsport and horizon as well
